Truncated Boolean Algebras as Subspace Arrangements
The truncated Boolean algebra can be considered as a
subspace arrangement embedded in the coordinate hyperplane
arrangement. We derive two forms of the characteristic polynomial
of this arrangement using two methods. One employs the Blass-Sagan
interpretation of certain characteristic polynomials as counting a set
of lattice points. The other involves hypergeometric series.
